Become a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist.

A rewarding career awaits you when you study
and train to become a therapist.

The NACHP has long recognised the need for properly trained, skilled and ethical therapists who deal with members of the General Public.

If you are looking to train as a Clinical Hypnotherapist we recommend you choose a course that goes beyond just learning the skills of hypnosis.

The NACHP considers clinical hypnosis a tool that is used within different models of therapy, such as CBT, psychotherapy, counselling and  other clinical approaches.

Where possible, you should choose a course that embraces all three main disciplines of counselling, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy, with hypnotherapy as its foundation. Deeper analytical methods of working are also of great value when working with some clients who may not always respond successfully to a ‘standard’ therapeutic approach.

Do you need prior experience of hypnotherapy, counselling or psychotherapy?
The answer is no. Former students have come from all walks of life, including teachers, journalists, engineers, beauty therapists, nurses, healthcare workers, police, fire brigade, ambulance service and those looking for a new career after retirement, to name but a few.

Once qualified, you can display your Certificate or Diploma proudly on the wall of your therapy practice to show your accreditation and qualification.

This is a vital component of your practice. It gives confidence to members of the general public that you are qualified and accredited in your profession. With so many untrained and unregistered people claiming to be therapists, your recognised qualification tells clients that they can have confidence in your skills, abilities and ethical conduct.

Where can I get training?

The NACHP is currently in the process of establishing its own training programme. In the meantime, we recommend courses and training carried out by a UKCHO recognised training school.

UKCHO (The UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations) was founded in 1998 in order to provide a non political arena to discuss and implement changes to the profession of hypnotherapy. These have included ensuring that hypnotherapy training is at a level that meets or exceeds our requirements for properly-trained therapists. Training schools must meet the following criteria:

They provide hypnotherapy training courses which consist of a minimum of 120 hours face to face teaching and a minimum of 450 hours study;

b)  They adhere to the National Occupational Standards for Hypnotherapy;

c)  They are accredited by an Accrediting Member of UKCHO, of which the NACHP is one.
